Abstract

The present article by Dr. Alexey A. Morozov is a continuation of the publication that appeared in the same journal in 2024 and offers, for the first time, a Russian translation of the Fifth Discourse of the ascetical treatise Antirrheticus by Evagrius Ponticus. The translation is based on the Syriac version of the text, published in 2024 in the Sources Chrétiennes series. It concerns the Fifth Discourse against the Demon of Anger. The translation is preceded by an introductory study analyzing the composition and content of both the Fifth and Sixth discourses, their structure and the classification of chapters by thematic orientation, the biblical sources cited, as well as the presence of additional chapters included in the new edition based on the Armenian, Arabic, and Georgian versions. The text is accompanied by critical-philological and theological notes.
