Abstract

The article presented here is a translation from English of a paper given at an international conference organized in Greece by the Metropolis of Piraeus in 2012, entitled «Patristic Theology and Post-patristic Heresy». Ioannis Kourembelуs (born 1965) is a well-known contemporary Greek theologian and patrologist, a graduate and lecturer at the Theological Faculty of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a scholarship holder of the Evangelical Church in Germany, and a doctoral candidate at the University of Heidelberg. In 1998, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on the topic «The Christology of Roman the Melodos and its Soteriological Significance». The proposed publication by Ioannis Kourembelys is intended to re-examine, on patristic grounds, contemporary popular theological tendencies in Greek theology, especially the so-called post-patristic theology, as well as their projections into contemporary Greek school education. Keywords: Archpriest Georges Florovsky, patristic theology, post-patristic theology, modernism, secularism, ecumenism, contemporary theological dialogue.
