Abstract

The presented article examines the views of Russian church scholars and religious thinkers on the work and personality of Blessed Theodoret of Cyrus. Among such outstanding persons who have shown their professional interest in the Antiochian theologian are Priest P. Florensky, Archpriest S. Bulgakov, Archpriest G. Florovsky, A. V. Kartashev, V. N. Lossky, Archpriest I. Meyendorff and A. I. Sidorov. At the same time, they evaluate the personality, activities and ideas of Blessed Theodoret diffe­rent­ly. The study concludes that positive reviews of the theology of Blessed Theodoret belong to those authors who pay the greatest attention to him and demonstrate the greatest awareness of his work. At the same time, none of the aforementioned thinkers doubt the historical significance of the figure of the Bishop of Cyrus and his theological legacy.
