Abstract

The article analyzes the criticism by Archbishop Nikon (Rozhdestvensky) of the worldview of the scientist I. I. Mechnikov, which touches on the issues of cognition of the spiritual world, human consciousness, the nature of scientifi c knowledge, the relationship between science and religion. The article shows that the topics of discussion with Mechnikov, the thoughts and arguments of Archbishop Nikon remain relevant today.
