The History of the Russian word diskos

Abstract

The proposed article continues a series of articles on the history of the names of church household items borrowed from the Greek language, including the names of church vessels. Following the article on the noun alavastr, the origin of the word diskos, its word-formation capabilities, as well as semantics in the source language and in the history of the Russian language are considered. When analyzing this term, materials from dictionaries and encyclopedias of different eras from antiquity to the present are used.
