Abstract

The article examines the critical function of philosophy as an integral part of philosophical thinking, analyzes the significance of ancient philosophy for the formation of the concepts of truth and virtues as values ​​in ancient culture that contributed to the conversion of pagans to Christianity. The article puts forward the thesis about the fundamental anti-traditionalism of modern European philosophy and examines the views of the Russian philosopher of the first half of the 19th century. I. V. Kireevskii from a new perspective, namely, as an apologist for the Christian tradition.
